
Pork Belly with Mashed Potato and Gravy
This steamed pork belly is the perfect full of flavour alternative to a traditional pork roast. Served with potato mash and gravy, it makes a wholesome and flavoursome meal for the whole family.

Ingredients
- pork belly - 800g
- pepper - 1 tsp
- salt - 2 tsp
- potatoes - 500g
- onion - 1, peeled and halved
- garlic cloves - 2, peeled
- butter - 110g
- water - 300g
- lager - 100g (*can use GF beer if required)
- chicken stock - 1 cube, or 1 Tbsp vegetable stock paste
- paprika - 1 tsp
- red wine - 50g
- nutmeg - pinch
- milk - 25g
Method
- Slice the pork belly (800g) into 1.5cm thick slices and season with pepper (1/2 tsp only) and salt (1/2 tsp only). Place the slices in the lower dish of the steaming attachment.
- Chop the potatoes (500g) in quarters and add to the upper tray of the steaming attachment. Set aside.
- Place the onion (1) and garlic cloves (2) into the bowl. Chop Speed 5 / 3 seconds. Scrape down sides.
- Add the butter (40g only) to the bowl. Program 4 minutes / 100C / Speed 1.
- Add the water (300g), lager (100g), chicken stock cube (1), salt (1/2 tsp only), black pepper (1/2 tsp), paprika (1 tsp) and red wine (50g). Set the steaming attachment in place and program 45 minutes / Steaming Temperature / Speed 2.
- Toward the end of cooking time, preheat the oven to 200C.
- Once cooked, transfer the pork belly pieces with tongs onto a baking tray lined with baking paper and brown for 10 minutes in the oven before turning over and cooking for another 7 minutes.
- To make the sauce, puree the liquid Speed 8 / 20 seconds. Ensure that it is nice and hot. If not, program 3 minutes / 90C / Speed 2. Transfer to a separate bowl. Sit on top of or next to the oven.
- Make the potato mash by placing the potatoes, salt (1 tsp), butter (70g), nutmeg (pinch) and milk (25g) in the bowl. Mix Speed 3 / 30 seconds. Ensure it is nice and hot. If not, program 3 minutes / 90C / Speed 3. Set aside in the insulated server. Serve with the pork belly and the gravy.
