Choc Orange Cookies
These fudgy chocolate cookies with a twist of citrus are a great grain free option for those following a low carbohydrate diet as they use xylitol. They can easily be adapted for a standard diet by replacing the xylitol with sugar.
These choc orange cookies came about because Bec was feeling selfish. She wanted to make a biscuit that she would LOVE. We are happy to report that the mission was successful.
These fudgey choc orange cookies are incredibly quick and easy to make with a Thermomix. Grind up the orange zest with the xylitol to create a beautiful aromatic sugar. Grind up the almonds into almond meal to create the bulk of the cookies. It’s that easy!

Makes 20-30 cookies
Can be frozen
- xylitol - 100g, or sugar
- orange - 1, peeled, zest only
- almonds - 300g, raw
- butter - 100g
- egg - 1
- cacao powder - 30g
- Preheat oven to 170C and line a baking tray with baking paper.
- Add xylitol (100g) and orange zest (from 1 orange) to the bowl. Grind Speed 10 / 15 seconds.
- Add almonds (300g) to the bowl. Grind Speed 8 / 10 seconds.
- Add butter (100g), egg (1) and cacao (30g) to the bowl. Combine Speed 6 / 10 seconds.
- Add tablespoons of mixture to the lined baking tray and transfer to the oven and bake for 12-15 minutes. They may still be a little soft when you remove them from the oven, but they will be more firm after cooling.
- Allow to cool and enjoy!
